Arlene was born in Manchester. She studied and qualified as a physiotherapist and her children Stuart and Joanne were also born there.
During her career, she was invited by the greater Manchester Police Force to organise and run their newly formed Physiotherapy department. The result was she returned Police personnel back to duty faster and by so doing saved the Force, hundreds of thousands of pounds in sick pay benefits.
Arlene retired at 60 and planned to use part of her leisure time travelling to interesting places. Sadly about 18 months later, she contracted lung cancer. Initially this did not deter her from her dreams, however when she contracted cancer in her remaining lung she became more limited in her choice of destinations.
She is greatly missed by all who knew her and remembered as a lady who accepted all the challenges life threw at her without complaining and finding happiness in the simplest of moments
